My 9 year old bought this, and at first we couldn’t get it to work at all–the potato bits just vanished inside. We rinsed them out with water (with the directions for using this as a water gun), and he finally got it working most of the time. You have to drive the point as far as it will go into the potato and pull it straight out, diagonal twisting often breaks them off too small. If the pellet is big enough, and you really snap the trigger hard, you can get it to go three yards. But reload time can vary a lot! It’s definitely not going to hurt anybody. And the water pistol function is weak, we haven’t gotten it to spit as far as a foot so far.
