This product was a good price at Amazon and it works great for me. I buy these shoes for my power-walking. They help stabilize my foot and have good cushion for heavier athletes. I also use this shoe for jogging. I have purchased several pairs of these shoes and used the NB 991 and 992 before this shoe came out.

I use these primarily for walking. They are quite sturdy and the tread is excellent…even on wet pavement. Somehow, they don’t feel quite as comfortable as I’d like, but maybe it’s my feet. I’ve had them for several months and have noted no structural defects. One minor thing. The laces are a bit on the short side.

The shoes are very nice looking and br /my husband said that these are the most comfortable athletic shoes that he’s br /worn in many years. Made in the USA, so I felt good buying them. I don’t yet know if they will last any longer than New Balance’s other, cheaper shoes that are not made in the USA. But the construction is clearly superior. The lining inside is sewn in and very comfortable. Cheaper shoes typically just have a bare interior with sharp edges in some places and a glued-in cardboard footbase. After a couple of weeks wearing them (walking, not running), I am very happy with these so far.

If you are looking for a shoe that looks good, this is the shoe for you. I wear these all the time because they look amazing. The bottom of the shoe is see through and everything else on the shoe looks great. If I had to custom make a shoe, I would make them look exactly like the Puma Usan. I originally bought the shoe for running and they really didn’t hold up for that. There wasn’t enough cushioning and I ended up getting blisters on my feet from them. People criticized this shoe for making noise, but I really don’t know what they were talking about. I don’t hear any noise when I walk in them. When I bought the shoe, I noticed that the top part of the shoe was already creased. That might be the reason why they were selling the shoe for only 30 dollars.

I like these shoes, but I don’t wear them for sports or anything like that. That said, the tongue-bill on these puppies extends probably 2″ farther than it should. I wear short socks most of the time and it started to take the hair off of the front of my shin. I folded them over instead of cutting them and that works just fine, but be warned: the tongue-bills are huge.

The New Balance 993 is one of the most comfortable shoes I have tried in several years of Running..I do all my running on the treadmill and only weigh 165 now..But it is murder on your legs if you have the wrong shoe…This shoe combines comfort and stability, plus it looks pretty good as a casual shoe just to wear out or if you are on your feet a lot…br /br /I am a serious runner and by that I mean I may be running 35 to 40 plus miles a week on the tread..These shoes are really a trainer..If doing my weekly routine of 5 plus miles a day I will use the 993s due to their shock absorbtion…br /br /But the reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is these are not a performance shoe…The big drawback here is weight…The shoes are heavier than most..So if you are looking at speed training or overall 5k, 10k best time this is not the shoe I wear..Would wear lighter more performance based shoe like the Asic GT 2030, 40, 50 line…But while training for that or daily running I use the 993s..Plus when you got to a lighter shoe for performance that is a plus..br /br /And the other reason I rate 4 stars is durability..These shoes will last me about 300 miles and they are done..Once leg pain, shin splints return I usually buy a new pair..So roughly 300 miles or so and the in soles are shot..Personally I like the black the best also..The grey doesn’t hold up very well cosmetic wise..br /br /So good training shoe, good comfort..If they were slightly lighter and less cumbersome and more durable I would rate a 5…And they get kinda toasty as well..They are not real breathable mesh…
